The Inn of the Second Home

The Inn of the Second Home is not an inn at all, but an orphanage. It located on the far side of Sodden, furthest away from New Cyre proper (as it is built now). It is a rectangular wooden structure, stilted, with a vaulted ceiling 15’ high. The interior has many bedrolls laid out, with hammocks tied to the support beams up to two high with climbing pegs rigged to get up to the hammocks. In times of overflow, some children have taken refuge under the building. The true number of orphans is unknown, but on average, there are between 50 and 75 in the structure at any given time.

The Orphanmaster is one Anson Mount, an Officer of the Cyran army, he was known to have a large family. All of his boys of age were serving in the Cyran army, and as far as he knows, they were caught in the mists and killed by it on the day of Mourning. Unfortunately, his wife and daughters were at home and also killed by the Mists. Anson himself was spared as his unit was actually located out of the Mists. A dark, brooding man, Anson has a devout deep-seated faith in the Host. Early in his arrival to New Cyre, Brother Maymuiex figured the best answer to this lost soul was to give him children to oversee, and provide him a purpose. The good Brother was right, it took most of his dark ramblings, and evil visions away, but was unable to remove his love for alcohol. A functional drunk, he has proven very capable of maintaining himself and keep good overseeing of the children under his care. Although there are many nights he can be found in a drunken sleep, unable to be woken.

Anson runs the orphanage with good order, a Drill Sergeant in the Cyran Army, he keeps the children active, clean (as possible), and the orphanage clean. Not a loud man, he is known to be very firm, but very fair.
